As renewed calls are made for a FHOG boost, it has been predicted that politicians will pledge to revamp the scheme to woo voters next year.

Will they never learn. Politicians should be banned from interfering in things they don't understand viz the economy in general and the real estate market in particular. Any increase in the FHOG will go straight into vendors' pockets. We'll have a mini boom followed by a bust. Study history to predict the future.

The first homeowners grant is a waste of time anyway. For the small amount it encourages buying activity it costs taxpayers a hell of a lot of money. We shouldn't be pumping more money into it, we should be exploring whether it is really working!
