The Property Council of Australia has reignited the debate around possible changes to negative gearing, claiming figures from the Australian Taxation Office show altering the tax break would not result in a windfall of revenue

    I would be interested to understand better the part that depreciation makes up in the ATO figures. As I understand it, depreciation is claimed but added back to the value of the property when it is sold thereby being taxed as capital gain at a later date.
