If anyone was going to be investing in Perth right now, where would you want to buy? What's going to do well?

    Hi Yasmith,

I would have a look at the following areas at the moment. Note these are not in order.

    1. WA Government recently announced plans to build a new railway station on the Mandurah line at Aubin Grove (Cost $80m). This station is only 3km from Cockburn which itself is being refreshed.

    2. Suburbs surrounding Great East Highway between Perth and the airport would be worth looking at. Great Easter Highway currently is 2 lanes each way. Raod being widened to 4 lanes each way which will ease traffic congestion. Suburbs within close proximity to the highway are generally made up of large blocks and would be suitable for someone looking to develop.

    3. Queens Park is slightly south of number 2 above - while it doesn't have a great reputation, largely based on its past, it has (& is) undergoing urban renewal process. A lot of this work is already underway and some selectivity will be required.

    4. North Perth is another worth looking at (disclaimer - we are doing projects there at the moment) with preliminary plans to provide light rail facility between Perth CBD and Morley Dianella.

Some of the mining companies are re-locating more HO staff in inner Perth suburbs from eastern states. The 5km ring is worthy of further investigation.

    Hope this helps.

Also new Marina going in at Ocean Reef (entry level costs might be up there a bit though) and look at close to waterfront property in the Rockingham area. That area is also undergoing some work.

In many respects the 'best' place will be determined by investment objectives and goals.
