Long term, Canberra is perhaps the most resilient residential market in Australia but analysts say if an Abbottled coalition government comes into power, they are likely to trim public service numbers further which may lead to a dip in the overall market.

Despite this, there are currently good buying opportunities in the capital and three suburbs stood out: Spence, Holt and Dickson as having the best potential for strong capital growth and offering good rental returns in the near to medium term.
