A recent study by People's Choice Credit Union identified 20 suburbs in Adelaide where unit buyers can benefit from two factors: affordability and liveability.

Aside from median unit prices, the suburbs' liveability aspects were analysed and ranked by the study.

"They are generally close to the city, have low crime rates and reasonably good access to public transport and are settled communities with good economic prospects," said People's Choice chief executive officer Steve Laidlaw.

Klemzig topped the overall list. Units in this suburb have a median price of $248,000, significantly lower than overall median city price of $345,750. Four other suburbs in the upper half of the list offer units for less than Adelaide's median unit price, making them an ideal entry point for first-home buyers and investors.

"Buying a home can be challenging at the best of times, so it is refreshing to be able to offer positive news that identifies opportunities rather than challenges," Laidlaw said.

Beachside suburbs are also well-represented in the list, with Glenelg East placing second, Grange at 12th, West Breach at 13th, Glenelg North at 18th, and Somerton Park ranking last.

People who prefer suburbs near the city can consider Parkside and Unley. However, these suburbs are for property buyers who have higher budgets. Brooklyn and Marden are two alternative suburbs that have cheaper price tags.
