Highest auction levels in months

Auctions numbers across Australia this week have reached their highest levels for two months. 

Data released yesterday by CoreLogic RP Data shows there are 2,591 auctions scheduled across Australia this week, the highest number since the last week of March. 

Again, the Melbourne and Sydney markets have provided the bulk of that figure, with the two cities both set to see more than 1000 homes go under the hammer. 

In Melbourne it’s expected that 1,149 residential properties will go to auction this week, down slightly from last week’s 1,162. 

The Victorian capital will be hoping it can continue its strong clearance levels after recording a clearance rate of 82.1% last weekend, one of the best results seen in Melbourne this year. 

The three suburbs which will host the highest number of auctions this week are all Victorian; Camberwell, Reservoir and South Yarra.

Numbers are set to be slightly lower in Sydney compared to Melbourne, with 1,087 auctions scheduled for the week. 

That figure makes this week the fifth that Sydney has had more than 1,000 auctions this year. 

Brisbane is set to see 137 auctions this week, down from 159 last week. 

It’s a similar story in Canberra where numbers are down from 96 to 54 this week, while Perth has also seen a significant drop this week, with only 19 auctions this week compared to 53 last week. 

Eighty-eight auctions have been scheduled for Adelaide this week, the same figure as last week.
