More than 20,000 new regional jobs are creating a considerable boost for the NSW housing market.
The last four years has seen an abundance of jobs listed in the states seven major regional cities.
Evocities spokesperson James Treloar said relocating to a regional city is a win-win situation.
“When people look for work in regional NSW they’re often surprised not only by the number of jobs available in these areas, but also the opportunities to advance their career while improving their lifestyle,” he said.
The draining commute that comes with working in commercial hubs like Sydney has led many people to look to regional areas like Bathurst, Tamworth and Wagga Wagga.
The latest CoreLogic data showed that with a median house price of $385,000, regional New South Wales was a much more realistic option for those wanting to break into the property market.
A recent study by Evocities showed that 81% of people found work prior to, or within three months of moving to these areas.
“Our survey found 57% of relocators secure work before they move to an Evocity and a further 22% find work within three months of their arrival,” said Treloar.
As the overheated Sydney housing market continues to rise, people are being pushed further to the fringes in an attempt to find accommodation within their price range.
Prior to relocating, nearly a quarter of respondents spent over an hour traveling to work.
“Nearly two thirds of relocators are able to reduce their commute to less than 10 minutes daily,” he said.
