Seasons greetings and a happy new year to all.  Since my last update I've been busy ticking off some 'bucket list' items over in the USA.

 - flying a number of ex military fighter type aeroplanes known affectionately as 'warbirds' which was very exciting and a lot of fun, mixed in with some serious stuff- learning the checklist procedures and various aircraft systems and re- learning  some aerobatic routines that I hadn't done for quite a number of years flying for the airlines.

This experience gave me cause to reflect and made me realise what is the single most valuable thing that becoming a property investor has done for me - given me time. Time to travel and time to do the things that I would have otherwise only been able to dream about doing while busy cramming all the other day to day things in which we need to do in order to live our busy working lives…

Along with the usual christmas and new year distractions there has been one other thing that has been keeping me up at nights- which has been the setting up of a new start-up company in the real-estate business.

I along with 3 partners have launched this new venture into the Pilbara market with the aim of providing a property management service unrivalled among our longer established property management competition. This company is set up by investors for investors drawing on 30 years of experience in real estate and property management.

With 8 years experience as an investment property owner in the Pilbara I have experienced a lot of the trials and frustrations, poor management and attention to detail that I'd like to help others avoid.

Another project that has been keeping me busy is organising the furniture and fit-out of my Samui villa development. The construction is now all complete and the finishing touches such as landscaping are being carried out -and built-ins, audio visual and lighting being installed. It should be ready to inhabitat very soon - once all the furniture arrives from suppliers sourced both locally and from various other parts of SE Asia.

Maybe the next blog update will be from the tropical climes of Samui...until next time happy investing!

YIP’s 2010 Investor of the Year, Patrick went from being broke, unemployed and struggling with a mountain of debt to becoming a multi-million dollar property tycoon in just eight years.  Patrick got his start with just $22,000 of his own cash and leveraged the rest of the money from the banks to get him to where he is today.  Having gone on to acquire a couple of commercial properties in Port Hedland, and with other projects on tap across NW Australia and abroad, Patrick has retired from his day-job as a pilot and achieved his goal of escaping the rat race.
