It seems to be sale season for Australia's prestigious properties, with one of Queensland’s most impressive houses hitting the market in the same week the record price for an Australian residential sale was broken.

Complete with its own private beach, marina and helicopter pad, Mandalay House in the Whitsunday region of Queensland came on the market the same day it was revealed billionaire James Packer had sold his La Mer mansion in Vaucluse for $70 million, a new Australian record.

Mandalay House

While the sale of Mandalay House may not be record breaker, selling agent Carol Carter from Gold Coast Sotheby's International Realty said it is likely to attract plenty of attention from those looking for a prestigious waterfront getaway.

“Aesthetically the property excels at the ‘views within the views’ with every vista as if you're looking through a picture frame with every detail catering to that magnificent unobstructed horizon line from every angle,” Carter said.

“To have this level of luxury with absolute privacy, including a private marina and private beach like this, is increasingly hard to find anywhere in the world and in extremely high demand,” she said.

On a 4,241 square metre block, he 2,650 square metre house features a master suite and five additional king size bedrooms.

In addition the house’s other amenities include a climate controlled cellar, private cinema, formal and informal dining areas, nine bathrooms, a five-car garage, private cinema and gymnasium.

Outside the property comes with an infinity pool, built in commercial BBQ and wood fired pizza ovens, a private 22.5m marina berth surrounded by rock wall, two jet ski docks and a generously proportioned boat shed.

There is no price guide for the house however rumour has it that the current owners - architect Andrew Simpson and his wife, interior designer Denise Simpson – had an open cheque-book policy during the design and construction of it.
