Suburbs in South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria have come out on top in attracting the most buyers from around Australia.

Suburbs from the three southern states were the only ones to feature in realestate.com.au’s latest Top Sellers’ Markets.

While New South Wales boasted the most suburbs in the top ten, it was South Australia that secured the top two placings.

Reigning hotspot Parkside has now featured eight times as Australia’s most popular suburb over the past year.

Harris Real Estate managing director Phil Harris said people across the country are appreciating the value that South Australian properties have to offer.

“There are multiple entry points in the South Australian property market,” he said.

“$250,000 can get you a beautiful home in a fantastic inner city location while this price may not get you much value in other states.”

Part of the appeal of Adelaide was the ease and relaxed nature of the area opposed to other commercial hubs in Australia.

“There’s no gridlock city commute. You’re able to get to your city office in the morning in less than 10 minutes reducing any stress that traffic jams may cause.”

The popularity of suburbs is defined by the number of people looking per listing.

Realestate.com.au sales and operations general manager Arthur Charlaftis said the number of clicks a suburb received was a good indicator of where buyers were searching.

“For many, selling your property can be quite stressful,” Charlaftis said.

“Knowing if there’s a shift in interest towards a certain area gives confidence to sellers that their property will do well on the market.”
