Real estate agents may get a bad rap amongst property investors, but one NSW agent has gone the extra mile by risking his life to save his mate from a terrifying shark attack.

Aaron "Noddy" Wallis, who works at LJ Hooker Harrington, has been nominated for a Pride of Australia bravery award for jumping to the rescue when his friend fell victim to a vicious attack while surfing off Crowdy Head, reported the Daily Telegraph.

Despite his mate, Dave Pearson, telling other surfers to stay away from the danger zone after he noticed the terrifying gash that a bull shark had inflicted on his arm, Wallis paddled over and guided Pearson to the safety of dry land.

"It all happened so fast," Wallis told the Daily Telegraph. “The same thing could happen again this afternoon and I might deal with it completely differently because you don't stop to think."
