A new prop-tech startup rolls out a new platform that allows everyday Australians to be their own buyer’s agents.

Do It Yourself Buyer’s Agency (DIYBA) launches a platform named after itself (pronounced as “dee-ba) that combines the expertise of the founders of the startup, the latest property data from PropTrack and Domain, and AI technology to provide potential buyers with the right knowledge before purchasing a property.

One of the founders, Darren Venter, said the platform aims to “democratise access to industry knowledge and expert guidance”.

“We want to make property investment simple and accessible. The costs involved with a buyer’s agency can put the investment path out of reach for everyday investors and relying on Google to guide your purchase can be a very risky rabbit hole to go down,” he said.

Mr Venter said the DIYBA platform will provide an opportunity for buyers to navigate their home purchase journey on their own terms, while still being able to access up-to-date insights.

“There are courses that teach people how to search for investment property markets that cost thousands of dollars, DIYBA not only dings the markets, but the best properties inside them for a fraction of that,” he said.

Bobby Haeri, Mr Venter’s co-founder, said the associated fees of seeking professional advice can leave many stranded and making ill-informed, costly decisions.

“It’s all about democratising access to the same insights that buyers would have through an in-person buyer’s agency experience and digitising it so they can DIY the process at the touch of a button,” he said.

How the DIYBA platform works

The platform guides Australian buyers through a three-step process:

Finding strategic investment

The platform creates a curated feed of high-performing assets from the strongest markets across Australia using its algorithm and AI capabilities.

The feed will be based on the user’s budget and investment objectives.

Buyers can use filters that would categorise their feed based on factors such as median prices, demographic data, and infrastructure information.

Each property listed in the feed are given a DIYBA score, which is based on factors such as market growth, gross yield, and potential return.

Making the purchase

DIYBA can help the buyers secure their purchase provided that they already have their finances ready.

DIYBA’s step-by-step buying plan will guide buyers’ due diligence and purchase validation and covers areas like pest & building, flood & fire zones, rental rates, and insurance cost with an actionable to-do list that breaks down each step and simplifies the process.

Managing the investment portfolio

For property investors using the platform, a dashboard is available that can help them import existing properties into one easy-to-navigate online portfolio.

The dashboard has a feature that will allow investors to find data updates about their potential equity, cash flow projections, and yield percentages.

The platform can also send out alerts to investors once their equity targets have been reached.

The platform is available through subscription plans with monthly, quarterly, or yearly terms. Fees start at $299 per month.
