Landchecker, a start-up that claims to make it easier for professionals and the general public to access a full scope of important property information for any given site in Victoria, recently announced a round of investment valued at $1.85m.
RACV was identified as the largest contributor, making it Landchecker’s second largest shareholder.
Developed by two architects and a property developer, Landchecker was conceived due to the apparent need for a more streamlined and time-efficient process for obtaining necessary information for property transactions. Landchecker claims to provide users with unique information about a property’s planning constraints, including development zones, heritage overlays, flood affected areas, and permit requirements.
In the coming months, RACV and Landchecker will work together to launch a new initiative called Claim My Property. The tool is said to be suitable for anyone working in, or interested in, Victorian property.
All users have to do is sign-in to Landchecker, search their address, and press “claim” on their property. Once a property is claimed, users will receive information, such as property reports, alerts for market updates, and council planning amendment changes. They’ll also have the ability to monitor buyer interest in the property.
This information will help users understand any changes to the property’s value.
Will Leaf, co-founder and CEO of Landchecker, said the joint venture will enable both companies to develop capabilities and eventually expand into other Australian markets.
“When people want to buy, develop, renovate or extend, they currently face a lengthy and confusing ordeal to ensure they obtain the information they’ll require.” Leaf said. “Support from a business such as RACV … one of Victoria’s most trusted organisations, will be instrumental in Landchecker’s growth and enable us to develop a transaction service that empowers all Australians on their property journey.”
Neil Taylor, managing director and CEO of RACV, said his organisation’s partnership with Landchecker was just one of the ways it continues to assist its members.
“We’re pleased to be partnering with Landchecker to launch the Claim My Property tool, as it will provide meaningful benefits to all current and prospective Victorian homeowners”, Taylor said. “We’re always looking for new ways to improve the lives of our members, and partnering with Landchecker will make the journey to home ownership easier.”
