In today’s property market, it can be difficult to know a good investment opportunity from a bad one. With so many investment seminars, special give-aways and claims to deliver you ‘maximum returns on your investment’ it can feel a little like rolling a dice on your future.

‘What’s the catch?’ is a commonly-asked question of the Defence Housing Australia (DHA) property investment. That’s because for some, guaranteed rent1 for up to 12 years, comprehensive property management and restoration at the end of the lease, well, it can seem ‘too good to be true’…

Fortunately for DHA, more than 13,000 investors, across Australia, prove otherwise as they ‘sit back’ and enjoy the benefits of the successful property investment program.

Since 2005, Deb and Peter have described themselves as happy DHA investors. Owning multiple investments—in addition to their DHA investment properties—this NSW couple is clear about why they value their DHA investment.

‘We find that DHA’s property investment program incorporates a carefree approach with the investor in mind,’ says Deb. ‘It’s a package with many benefits, which really appealed to us. A major benefit is that we don’t have to dedicate a lot of time to it, so it really suited our lifestyle. With our DHA investment we can relax.’

Mt Isa couple, Lisa and Andrew, are also DHA property investors. ‘We’re always saying to our family and friends go with DHA because they take care of most maintenance and the rent is guaranteed1,’ says Lisa. ‘It’s not hard to recommend DHA when, in our experience, it’s such an easy investment,’ says Andrew. ‘We’d love to own four DHA houses…one for each boy,’ Lisa says. ‘Well, that’s the plan!’

With a lessor satisfaction rate between 86 per cent and 97 per cent2 for DHA’s lease, property management and customer service, and more than 22 per cent3 of property purchases being from repeat purchasers, it’s easy to see how this program has been so successful.

DHA is bringing back its popular investment seminar series in October, where investors can come along and get the facts on the DHA property investment. The series will be run nationally and is designed to answer your questions on what the DHA product offers, how to invest and where you can invest.

Dates and times for the upcoming seminars can be viewed on the DHA website, www.dha.gov.au.
